The magazine
Founded in 1987 by Gilles Cohen, Tangente is the only popular mathematics magazine accessible to everyone. Every two months, it offers a fresh look at the world and a different perspective on the major themes of mathematics and the other sciences.
Our mission
Tangente's ambition is to promote the image of mathematics. Through the history of mathematical discoveries, the magazine delves into the past to better understand the major currents of modern thought. It also highlights the imprint of mathematics on current events and everyday life, and draws connections between mathematics and cultural disciplines as varied as art, music and philosophy.
A unique approach
Tangente does not take itself too seriously, brings out the games hidden behind every concept and makes scientific content accessible to everyone through an approach unburdened by unnecessary theory. Infinity, graphs, chance, tilings, sequences... are just some of the fields Tangente makes accessible to everyone in its in-depth articles.
Éditions POLE
Tangente is published by Éditions POLE, a publishing house specializing in the world of mathematics and logic. Founded more than 30 years ago, Éditions POLE also publishes Tangente Éducation, aimed at teaching professionals, as well as themed special issues and the Bibliothèque Tangente collection.
