One of the most important decisions Éditions POLE made six months ago was to handle its own distribution to bookstores. What does this mean? It means selling its books directly to booksellers rather than going through a distribution system that neglects small publishers and takes a colossal cut.

Direct distribution benefits both parties:

• the bookseller enjoys a higher margin (between 35% and 45%, depending on the arrangement);

• the publisher does not have to pay a commission to an intermediary.

To do so, send your bookseller the link to the POLE catalogue and go and talk to them about the mathematics publications you would like to buy from them. All the information is provided on editionspole.fr, a website specially dedicated to booksellers.

Then send us the full contact details of the person you spoke to at , and as soon as that bookseller places their first order, we will send you a wonderful gift: a €50 voucher for Éditions POLE books. Please note that if several of our readers contact the same bookseller, only the first to write to us will receive the voucher; the others will nevertheless receive a small gift.

Éditions POLE has a full-time team and passionate authors who are deeply committed. Together with Club Tangente, it runs campaigns to promote mathematical culture.

It would probably be wise for POLE to join forces with other organizations in the same field, or with a press or publishing group that would allow it to retain the distinctive qualities on which its reputation rests. Its directors also need to be certain that everything they have built will endure when the day comes for them to hand over the reins.
