You are holding an exceptional issue.
• First, because it marks a milestone in the history of Tangente. Who could have imagined, when it was founded in late 1987, that the mathematical adventure would still be going a third of a century later? A dedicated team, regularly joined by new members, has produced 200 issues, 78 special issues and 65 books in the Bibliothèque Tangente series. The ongoing digitization of back issues is gradually making it possible, via the comprehensive digital subscription, to access most of this fascinating content, which "tells the story" of mathematics and its many faces.
The opening feature traces the magazine's history, as well as its impact—particularly the way it has inspired many people in the mathematics community to become involved in the field or in popularization initiatives.
• Second, because of its content and design, which we wanted to be anything but ordinary.
You will already have noticed the cover band that wraps around the issue, on which you are reading this editorial.
At the center of the print edition (available from the Infinimath bookstore), a detachable 16-page supplement will allow you to display magnificent works of mathematical art or to cut out and reconstruct a ring of polyhedra.
