Paris, the capital of mathematics competitions, 2018 | Tangente

Organized by the Animath association and supported by Société Générale, the tournament has the distinctive feature of setting participants to work on… unsolved problems. The twelve teams, from Germany, Belarus, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, India, Romania and Russia, spent three months working on the mathematical questions presented. The two French teams competing qualified by winning the TFJM² (French Tournament for Young Women and Men in Mathematics) in May. During the tournament, each team had to present its own findings and also debate them with the other participants in a series of debates held over two rounds followed by a final, all before a panel of mathematicians.
