The actor: No, I'm quoting Sacha Guitry. When someone asked him "What's new?" he replied, "Molière!" Molière: the consummate author, the absolute author, the universal author.
A teacher: It's true that, in a sense, Molière remains relevant. The character types he portrayed are timeless. There are still, and always will be, misers, Tartuffes and misanthropes. But I wonder whether some aspects of his plays haven't become seriously outdated.
