Another artist who gives science pride of place in his creations is Quebecer Étienne Saint-Amant. He created the mural Le Couloir du temps in the passageways of the Montparnasse-Bienvenüe metro station in Paris in 2015. In his painting Elles tiennent, the superimposed yellow layers recur according to the sequence defined by the function f, known as the "tent map": *xn*+1 = fm (*xn), where f*m (x) = m × inf(x, 1 – x), whose behavior quickly becomes chaotic. The central clouds, meanwhile, are governed by Brownian motion. Science serves as a tool for artistic creation.
