Each month, a large-format illustration by Mexican artist Ale de la Puente (born in 1968) accompanies a text that sheds light on the heavens. The texts are by Marie Lhuissier, Olga Paris-Romaskevich and Valentin Seigneur, the creators of the virtual exhibition "Mathematics of the sky".
An engaging mathematical challenge is offered for every day of the year except weekends. The 261 questions span a wide range of fields: logic, geometry, arithmetic, combinatorics… Most are suitable for students in their first years of high school, and sometimes even earlier. The calendar comes with a booklet containing detailed answers.
The questions and their solutions are translated from the Mexican edition of the calendar, a project run since 2002 by a team of Mexican academics deeply committed to popularizing mathematics. The French edition is adapted under the direction of Ana Rechtman Bulajich, an associate professor at the University of Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin).
