The centenary of Gustave Eiffel's death

Engineer, entrepreneur and scientist Gustave Eiffel (1832–1923) is best known for building the tower that bears his name, a monument erected for the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition. In 2023, the centenary of his death was marked by numerous events throughout France, including, for example, a day organized by a delegation of Ingénieurs et Scientifiques de France Côte d’Azur (IESF-CA) at the Palais des Congrès in Grasse.
Other major works can be found around the world, including two bridges over the Douro in Porto, Portugal; Nyugati railway station in Budapest, Hungary; Ristna Lighthouse in Estonia; and the framework of the Statue of Liberty in New York. France also boasts structures as varied as the Paris wind tunnel (still in use today), the Saint-Jean footbridge in Bordeaux, the great dome of the astronomical observatory in Nice, a famous bridge in Grasse and the Garabit Viaduct in Auvergne.
