There is nothing fundamentally new in this issue, but the topics are handled seriously and make mathematics appealing. What a pleasure to read the interview with Stanislas Dehaene, in which he says that everyone has a "head for maths" and that "games are to mathematics what books are to language", as well as the interview with Cédric Villani, who explains the importance of this field in the development of our society.
The place of mathematics in art, music, poetry and nature is explored through a wealth of illustrations. Our contributor Daniel Justens is prominently featured, with two pages devoted to la Mathématique du Chat (Delagrave, 2013), which he co-authored with Philippe Geluck.
The issue concludes by examining the rational choices to make in various everyday situations, such as shopping in the sales, choosing a loan or doing DIY. An issue for anyone who fears mathematics or thinks it is useless!
