Launched on 10 December last year, it offers an impressive collection of videos in a range of formats and at various levels: interviews, lectures, popular mathematics, academic courses… The product of a collaboration among five institutes – the Centre international de mathématiques pures et appliquées (CIMPA), the Centre international de rencontres mathématiques (CIRM), the Institut des hautes études scientifiques (IHES), the Institut Henri-Poincaré (IHP) and the Société mathématique de France (SMF) – Carmin.tv already boasts more than 4,500 videos in French and English. The site can be navigated using an intuitive, effective system of keyword searches and filters. Better still, every video comes with a summary and a set of metadata. This ambitious initiative should prove extremely useful to many mathematics enthusiasts, specialists and non-specialists alike!
