The Centre international Blaise-Pascal (CIBP) is affiliated with the Institut d’histoire des représentations et des idées dans les modernités (IHRIM) at Université Clermont Auvergne. Working with an international network of more than two hundred members and correspondents of the Association des amis et correspondants du CIBP, its team consists of university faculty members.
Besides organizing conferences and study days, the Centre conducts research, particularly to compile a comprehensive bibliography of work on Blaise Pascal. The Courrier du CIBP, now the Courrier Blaise-Pascal, offers plenty to satisfy any admirer of this great seventeenth-century scholar. Every issue is available online in full. The research is necessarily interdisciplinary: Pascal’s work cannot be studied without examining the history of ideas, science and literature in his time. This demands considerable effort from researchers—for example, those with a literary background must delve into his scientific work, as studying Pascal’s research on the roulette requires specific mathematical expertise.
