Designer, sculptor, photographer, filmmaker and stage designer, Arik Levy (www.ariklevy.fr) is all these things at once. Born in Tel Aviv in 1963 and now based in Paris, this artist is fascinated by science and creates forms with strikingly geometric outlines. "What interests me is imperfect geometry, anomaly and the dynamics of form," he says.
Polyhedra seem to be his favorite geometric form, and he explores them in various ways: sculptures of all sizes, lighting fixtures... Whether standing alone or grouped into what he calls "rocks," these extraordinary forms never fail to catch the eye. Their bold outlines make them seem extraterrestrial, while familiar geometric constructions lend them a human quality, evoking our mathematics classes—albeit in a distinctly unconventional way.
