Stage 1: first round
– Go to **www.tangente-mag.com** between April 7 and 21.
– Log in (you will need to register if you have not already done so).
– Predict a percentage, to two decimal places, for each of the four or five candidates shown.
– You can change your prediction until the last minute.
Once the exact results are known—the percentage of valid votes received—you will be awarded a score equal to the sum of the absolute differences between your predicted percentage and each candidate's actual result.
By predicting the first-round results, you will also be indirectly betting on which two candidates will qualify for the second round. If you have backed both finalists, you will qualify for the second stage.
Stage 2: second round
– Go to **www.tangente-mag.com**between April 25 and May 5.
– Log in
– Predict a percentage, to two decimal places, for each of the two finalists.
– You can change your prediction until the last minute.
Once the exact results are known—the percentage of valid votes received—you will be awarded twice the sum of the absolute differences between your predicted percentage and each candidate's actual result. This will be added to your first-round score.
Prizes: €5,000 in vouchers for books and magazines devoted to mathematical culture.
The second-stage qualifier with the lowest score will win first prize: a €250 voucher for POLE products. Every second-stage qualifier will win a prize. In all, €5,000 in vouchers will be awarded.
