This builds on an initiative launched by Insmi in 2022 with the Assises des mathématiques (**www.assises-des-mathematiques.fr**), which brought together the mathematical community while also drawing on contributions from business leaders, scientists in other disciplines, representatives of civil society and political figures.
Insmi now aims to take these discussions further by involving citizens. This consultation gives people from all walks of life an opportunity to express their views on the place of mathematics in our society. It will take the form of an online consultation beginning March 10, 2025 (**consultation-maths.fr**),
supplemented by participatory workshops throughout France for a wide range of audiences – from people who love mathematics to those who never think about it.
