The aim is to reward—with a work of art and publication—the author of an article that brings a mathematical concept within reach of a broad readership while meeting Tangente's writing requirements (length, style, etc.). Clément Lelièvre's article, Rieman et l’infini, won the 2018 Best Article Prize.

Open to everyone except professional journalists and authors who regularly contribute to popular-science publications, the prize gives mathematics enthusiasts with a flair for writing the opportunity to make a name for themselves in the mathematics outreach community—and perhaps even become regular contributors.
