The Operational Research Group (GDR) (**http://gdrro.lip6.fr**) is a CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique) body that promotes and coordinates scientific activity and monitors developments in the field.
For example, nearly 40 CNRS-affiliated laboratories include operational researchers, along with almost as many university laboratories that are not affiliated with the CNRS. The Operational Research GDR supports the community by interacting with related GDRs and working in tandem with ROADEF. It structures its activities around working groups (GTs) devoted to the operational research topics presented in this issue: the POC working group focuses on polyhedra and combinatorial optimization, while the ORGDS working group studies resource optimization in large distributed systems… These working groups organize workshops and scientific discussions.
