Terraquée wins the d'Alembert Prize

The d'Alembert Prize, which recognizes an initiative that brings mathematics to the general public, was awarded to the Terraquée theater company (**www.cieterraquee.com**).
Based in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), the company stages shows on mathematical themes: polyhedra (Il est rond mon ballon), voting systems (Les indécis) and, coming soon, a play entitled Florence Nightingale, la dame à la crête de coq. It runs theater workshops linked to mathematics and archaeology, hosts game nights… and organizes the annual Maths en ville festival (see Tangente 213). Now an unmissable fixture in the life of Saint-Denis, the event welcomes anyone curious about mathematics, with no preconceptions or prerequisites—just a desire to have a good time.
The jury praised "the rigorous standards applied to bringing scientific content to the stage, the commitment to accessibility and openness for audiences with little contact with mathematics, and the attention paid to social and cultural issues".

The Jacqueline-Ferrand Prize goes to the Cormécouli kit

The Jacqueline-Ferrand Prize, which recognizes innovation in mathematics teaching, was awarded to the Cormécouli kit (short for "medieval corpus of Loire urban accounts").
This teaching kit, designed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers and teachers together with the CCSTI Centre-Val de Loire, is designed for a wide audience, particularly students in Cycle 3 (CM1, CM2 and 6th grade). Medieval accounting records provide situations that call for work on language, numeral systems (several different ways of writing numbers coexist in these documents) and arithmetic.
These are therefore substantive problems drawn from everyday life which, as the jury emphasized, "[aptly portray] mathematical work as a social activity within a specific historical and educational framework".

The jury's special mentions

The jury's special mention for the d'Alembert Prize went to Tête-à-tête chercheuse(s), a podcast created by Nathalie Ayi, a lecturer in applied mathematics at Sorbonne Université. Over the course of the episodes, she talks with mathematicians about their career paths and research (**podcast.ausha.co/tat-chercheuses**) (see also Tangente 214).

The jury's special mention for the Jacqueline-Ferrand Prize went to La grande aventure des maths, a series of short films directed by Cassia Sakarovitch and Gwenael Mulsant and devoted to topics in the history of mathematics (see also Tangente 213). The films tie in with the French general-track 11th-grade curriculum, but will also appeal to the general public. The episodes are available on the Lumni platform (**lumni.fr)*. The jury particularly praised "the rigor of its historical and mathematical approach"*.
