IHES and mathematics–industry partnerships

The Institut des hautes études scientifiques (IHES) is an advanced research institute in mathematics and theoretical physics. It offers scientists from around the world a place where they can devote themselves entirely to their research, with no teaching obligations, administrative duties, or even required on-site hours. Partnerships between mathematics and industry are a major focus at IHES, as shown by the event held on 25 November, entitled "AI in All Its Forms." Research teams from Nokia Bell Labs and IHES came together for a day of discussions on the latest advances in artificial intelligence.
Other topics addressed jointly with companies in recent years include machine learning, life sciences, optimization, deep learning, optimal transport, inverse problems and issues of scientific reproducibility.
