The mysterious crystal consists of six identical pieces.
The printable file **ChestNutBurr.pdf** contains cut-out templates for assembling two pieces. Solid black lines indicate cuts, dotted lines indicate folds, and the tabs are pale yellow. All the tabs have been drawn with a 5° draft angle to make assembly easier.
Print the pieces in **ChestNutBurr.pdf** three times on sheets of thick, colored paper (180 gsm).

The mysterious crystal is made in two stages:

Stage one: making the pieces

Cut out the template along the black lines.
Crease along the dotted lines (black for mountain folds and blue for valley folds).
Glue the edges of the piece together using the tabs.
Repeat with the other five pieces.
Stage two: assembling the crystal

1 - Join two pieces at right angles: the pyramid on the horizontal piece fits into the lower notch in the vertical piece.
2 - Position a third piece at right angles to the first two.
3 - Build a second, enantiomorphic assembly (the mirror image of the first).
4 - Join the two sections to close the solid.
