Self-referential photography ----------------------
When we try to define what a "self-referential photograph" might be, several ideas spring to mind. First, we think of a photographer's self-portrait, taken in a mirror with the camera visible in the image. Numerous examples can be found in the work of Vivian Maier (1926–2009); today, selfies, often taken in bathrooms, are everywhere.
