This year, the jury for the Tangente Prize brought together not only its statutory members but also seven students from the École nationale de la statistique et de l’administration économique (ENSAI, see Tangente 228, 2026), who threw themselves into the exercise with great enthusiasm. The prize was awarded unanimously to Roger Mansuy for his Grand almanach mathématique (Albin Michel, 2025), whose originality, wealth of sometimes little-known information and sheer reading pleasure won over all the members. A mention (just one this year) was awarded to Anita Lehmann, Jean-Baptiste Aubin and Joonas Sildre for L’univers de pi, le nombre mystérieux qui rend tout le monde dingue (Helvetiq), as this graphic book proves to be highly accessible, very pleasing to look at and extremely well documented.

The prize-giving ceremony took place on 23 May at 1:30 p.m. during the Salon culture et jeux mathématiques, at Place Saint-Sulpice in Paris. For the second year in a row, the trophy is a beautiful sculpture in the shape of a steel cube, cut and hand-welded by Italian artist Franco Andreatta.
