Try using a ruler and compass to construct a triangle whose three side lengths are known. You will soon encounter impossible cases arising from the triangle inequality, which, as its name suggests, is a requirement that every triangle must satisfy. Other inequalities may have a simple geometric interpretation; the arithmetic–geometric mean inequality is one of them. Some more complicated inequalities are even purely geometric.
