The Tangente Trophies grew out of a conviction: mathematics is not confined to a ghetto; it is in constant dialogue with all human activities and enriches them through its presence.
In particular, its relationship with the arts, which forms the content of the “Passerelles” section of Tangente, matters so much to the magazine's team that six years ago they devised two artistic prizes: the Tangente Book Prize, which rewards a book “that makes a wide audience want to learn more about mathematics”, and the Tangente Osc'Art, which showcases a work of art inspired by mathematics.
