An Emmy Award for Nantes University!

Patrick Le Callet, a faculty member and researcher at Nantes University's Laboratoire des sciences du numérique in Loire-Atlantique, has just been honored, through his university, with a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award from the US National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

For years, his team has worked on the automatic assessment of image and video quality and on improving it, including work with the US multinational Netflix.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), a US nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting television, presents Emmy Awards for both television programs and technological achievements. The latter receive Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards, judged by a panel of engineers working in television.

Nantes University was honored in the "video coding optimization" category, alongside Netflix, Disney and Google, among others...
